Vascular surgery

Vascular surgery is a modern specialty addressed to a large group of patients with arterial and venous diseases, and patients requiring vascular access for hemodialysis.

The most common vascular diseases:
  • Atherosclerosis – fat deposits in the walls of arteries and lesions on arterial walls, with clots in the artery – artery narrowing and complete sealing / embolism / cutaway aneurysms;
  • Ischemia – decreased blood supply due to the narrowing or clogging of the arteries, causing pain in the vascularized areas, most commonly in the legs, heart and brain (pain on walking, gangrene, angina, heart attack, stroke);
  • Peripheral arterial disase of the lower limbs (arteritis) – produces symptoms in about 7% of the population aged between 50 and 75 years old (walking pain, rest pain, gangrene) but in reality is much more frequent, but undetected;
  • Hydrostatic varices – dilated veins located superficially, especially in the legs, which can produce both local complications (edema, thrombophlebitis, varicose ulcers) and unpleasant aesthetic appearance;
  • Aortic aneurysm – the aorta dilatation (abdomen, thorax) produced typically by atherosclerosis and hypertension, most commonly located in the abdominal aorta, with a high risk of rupture when is bigger than 5.5 cm in diameter, with surgery indication;
  • Carotid disease – atherosclerosis disease of vessels that supply the brain (carotid) causing their sealing, embolism and stroke;
  • Raynaud’s Disease – fading and cyanosis of the fingers (on hands and feet) caused by temperature changes or emotional factors (stress);
    Thrombophlebitis / venous insufficiency – is manifests particularly in the legs, causing swelling and chronic lesions (stasis dermatitis, stasis ulcer).
Why choose Medpark Surgery?

Medpark strictly adheres to International Medical Standards, which guarantees medical safety and the best treatment results. The Medpark Infrastructure offers exceptional conditions for the diagnosis and surgical treatment of patients, namely:

  • 5 stat-of-the-art operating rooms with integrated intensive care and resuscitation rooms – all equipped with the most advanced medical equipment and qualified personnel.
  • Operating rooms equipped with continuous sterilized airflow and hermetic doors that minimize the risk of in-hospital infections. Air sterility also ensures rapid postoperative recovery of patients (a few days earlier than in other hospitals), the risk of complications due to infections is minimal;
  • Positive pressure – higher pressure sterile air is directed to the operation table, especially over the incision, so the surrounding air (for example, the breathing of the medical staff) does not hit the wound – ensuring sterility and minimal risk of infection or post-operative complications;
  • Cell-saver – autotransfusion system. The blood of the patients is transfused to themselves, so they have no contact with someone else’s blood;
  • Hemofiltration to clean patient’s blood, applied post-operatively in complicated cases;
  • Postoperative care at international standards and complex treatments with rapid rehabilitation;
  • Applying the concept of “pain-free hospital”, providing anesthesia and analgesia individualized to each patient, maximum efficacy and minimal risk;
  • 63 modern one-patient rooms in the inpatient department, each equipped with a functional bed, own bathroom, foldable bed for the attendant, WiFi, TV, etc., and medical staff always available, for patient comfort and safety.
